nathan melja is the same young frenchman whose debut ep we released under the name melja late last year. since then, he moved to new york and worked at mister hq for a few months, manned the light booth at the mister saturday night and mister sunday parties (djs make the best light guys), and spent most of his time outside that making music. leo draws is the culmination of that music-making, two murky but beautiful tracks centered around vocal samples and one off-kilter number aimed at the dark corners of the dancefloor.

the vinyl factory has teamed up with french label zone for another rugged techno four tracker, this time from close associate and well established production talent maelstrom. though his name suggests total chaos, maelstroms music belies intention, focus and precision. often marked as exciting newcomer to french techno, maelstrom has actually been making music for over fifteen years. with a cryptic history of aliases and side projects, illegal raves thrown in warehouses and fields and basements, the artist has really come into his own under this moniker. the optics ep showcases metallic techno, acid house, industrial noise and stark ambient sounds, forging smokey machine music for those with a penchant for post punk and a soft spot for the spikier end of the techno spectrum.

bc & co. started out as a small group of friends who surfed and skateboarded together. as they hung out in venice and shared their interests and ideas about music, sounds started to take shape. what started off with no intentions of being anything serious began to develop, inspiring music composer alberto bof, music advisor paul t. and music coordinator alex olson to think about avenues of release. inspired by a seigen ono record put out for comme des garcons in 1988 olson got the idea to release the trio s project under his brand bianca chandon. this limited 12 inch has embodied the spirit of the creators and the motivation of the brand to become bianca s first record release.
